学院简介

外国语学院前身为1977年成立的英语系。学院现有1部4系（大学外语教学部、英语系、翻译系、商务英语系和亚欧语系）；5个本科专业（英语专业、日语专业、英语翻译专业、商务英语专业、法语专业）；3个硕士专业（学科教学（英语）专业、翻译专业、比较文学和世界文学专业）。教师任教的语种有英语、日语、法语、俄语、西班牙语。

学院拥有先进的教学仪器设备,丰富的文字和声像外语教学参考资料，校内外实践基地利用率高。校内1个50座同声传译实训室，23个智慧语音室，2个外语电台。校外实习基地31个（其中师范实习基地16个，应用专业实习基地15个）。

现有教职员工120余人，教授5人，副教授29人，具有博士学位教师17人，具有硕士学位的老师92人。现有教育部考试中心特聘青年学者、江西省“百千万人才工程”人选、江西省高校中青年学科带头人、江西省高校中青年骨干教师、校师德标兵、十育人标兵、巾帼标兵岗、江西省外语学会副会长、江西省外语学会（常务）理事等18人次。具有国际教育背景教师50余人，外籍教师4人，学院还聘请了部分国外专家为兼职教授。

学院成立了4个学科方向研究团队：外国文学研究团队、翻译理论与实践研究团队、英语教育研究团队、外国语言学及应用语言学研究团队。近年来，学院教师主持国家级、教育部、省级和校级课题50余项；在CSSCI期刊和其他核心期刊发表论文300余篇，出版专著、译著和自编教材近30余部。教师获省部级科研成果奖项5项，获省级教学成果奖项9项，获省级教师教学能力比赛奖项5项。教师参加全国、省内及学校各类多媒体、微课比赛获各类奖项15项。

学院现有在读本科生和硕士研究生共1300余人。大学外语教学部承担全校非外语专业2万余名学生大学外语教学。

学院坚持以教师教育和应用型人才培养为基本定位，发挥职业教育师资培养培训的办学优势，实施校企合作、校校合作、小班精英，网络课程、以赛促学、分级教学等教学模式改革，近年来学生学习效果显著，学科竞赛成绩斐然，获国家级奖项2项，省级特等奖和一等奖130余项。学院学生在全国英语专业四、八级考试中屡创佳绩，英语专业学生专业四级一次性通过率高达86.3%、专业八级一次性通过率达68.9%。学院学生毕业后继续在国内外大学攻读硕士及以上学位，考取的学校有利兹大学、北京大学、上海外国语大学等国内外知名高等学府，每年研究生报考通过率达40%。学院为国家和江西省培养了一大批优秀的建设人才，他们当中许多已经成为各自行业和单位的骨干力量，受到社会的广泛好评。

Profile of the School of Foreign Languages

The School of Foreign Languages, formerly known as the English Department, was established in 1977. The school currently boasts five departments (the Department of College Foreign Language Teaching, the Department of English Language, the Department of Translation, the Department of Business English, and the Asia-Europe Language Department). It offers five undergraduate majors (English, Japanese, English Translation, Business English, and French), and three postgraduate programs (Subject Teaching (English), MTI, Comparative Literature and World Literature). The languages taught here are English, French, Russian, Spanish, and Japanese.

The school is equipped with advanced teaching instruments and devices, abundant reference materials for foreign language teaching in both text and audio-visual forms, and on-campus and off-campus practice bases with high utilization. The on-campus facilities include a 50-seat simultaneous interpretation training room, 23 smart audio rooms, and two foreign language radio stations. There are 31 off-campus internship bases, including 16 for teachers’ training and 15for professional training.

The school has 120 faculty members, including 5 professors, 29 associate professors, 17 teachers with doctoral degrees and 92 teachers with master's degrees. 18 teachers have been recognized as young scholars specially invited by the Examination Center of the Ministry of Education, candidates for the Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talents Project of Jiangxi Province, the young and middle-aged leading figures in disciplines in Jiangxi Province's universities, the outstanding young teachers in Jiangxi Province's universities, model teachers in professional ethics and education, woman model teachers, vice presidents of the Jiangxi Provincial Foreign Language Society, and executive directors of the Jiangxi Provincial Foreign Language Society. There are over 50 teachers with international education background, 4 foreign teachers, and some foreign experts employed as part-time professors in the school.

The school has set up four research teams in various disciplines: Foreign Literature Research Team, Translation Theory and Practice Research Team, English Education Research Team, and Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics Research Team. In recent years, the faculty has undertaken over 50 research projects at national, ministerial, provincial and university levels, and has published 300-plus academic papers in CSSCI journals and other core journals. In addition, over 30 academic monographs, translated books and textbooks have been published. Teachers have received 5 provincial and ministerial-level research awards, 9 provincial-level teaching awards, and 5 awards in provincial-level teacher teaching competitions. The teachers have also won 5 provincial and ministerial scientific research awards, 9 provincial teaching awards, and 5 awards in the province’s teaching ability competitions. And 15 prizes have also been awarded in various competitions in multimedia and micro-class at national, provincial, and school levels.

The school currently has about 1300 students, including graduate students and undergraduate students. The College Foreign Language Teaching Department undertakes foreign language teaching tasks for more than 20,000 non-foreign language major students in the university.

The school adheres to the principle of taking the general teacher education and the cultivation of applied talents as the main orientation and leverages its advantages of vocational education teacher training. A series of reforms in teaching modes have been conducted including university-enterprise cooperation, inter-university cooperation, small-class elite education, online courses, competition-driven learning, and hierarchical teaching, etc. In recent years, the students have made significant improvements in learning and academic competitions, winning 2 national awards and over 130 provincial special and first prizes. The students majoring in English have excelled in TEM-4 and TEM-8 exams, with a first-time pass rate of 86.3% for TEM-4 and 68.9% for TEM-8 respectively. Quite a number of students continue their studies at prestigious domestic and foreign universities, including the University of Leeds, Peking University, and Shanghai International Studies University, with an annual postgraduate enrollment pass rate of 40%. The School of Foreign Languages has produced a large number of outstanding talents for our country and Jiangxi Province, many of whom have become backbone forces in their own industries and units, receiving widespread praise from society.
